For my upcoming long haul flight to Japan I have decided to do a few extra steps to my normal everyday routine. Flying is very dehydrating on the skin and its not always about what you pack in your carry-on bag, although I will have a full skincare routine planned for when I’m up in the air.
I have my in-flight skincare routine down now and the copious amounts of face masks will hopefully be enough for my dry skin. However I’ve been adding in a little extra oil into my daily skincare routine to boost my moisture levels and keep me from being dehydrated. This one from Oskia is packed full of omega-rich plant oils to help enhance the skins natural glow and radiance.
As i’ve mentioned previously, I am very low maintenance when it comes to body care, I just get lazy. But the one product I will always reach for is from Ameliorate. The body lotion is my favourite and it just works. Our body sheds a certain amount of dead skin cells a day and what Ameliorate does is exfoliate the top layer of the skin, removing those dead skin cells and revealing super soft healthy skin underneath. Compared to a normal standard body lotion that would just sit on the surface of the skin with the dead skin cells building up underneath, gross.
I’ve recently got hold of the body mitt from Ameliorate and this is a game changer for sure. I use this on dry skin all over my body before getting in the shower or before I apply the lotion. It removes the dead skin cells instantly (you can even see it on the black mitt) making the lotion work even better at exfoliating the skin.
I’ve been doing this little routine for a few days now and will carry on each day before my flight to get my limbs prepared to battle the dehydration.
I never thought to prep my hair before a flight but my bleach strands are prone to dryness on the ground let alone being 38700ft up in the air. My favourite product to cleanse my hair is the IGK Smoke and Mirrors conditioning cleansing oil. This cleansing oil is amazing for bleached hair because it doesn’t weigh the hair down but leaves it nourished, cleansed and healthy looking, something I will definitely be needing.
Hair masks are my favourite kind, the leave my locks feeling nourished and silky. The night before my flight I am going to coat my hair in my go-to Christophe Robin mask, I am going to mix a bit of the baby blonde shade with the original prickly pear (absolute fave) to create a purple shampoo to knock out any brassiness my bleach hair has. This combo will leave my hair feeling brand new, ready for my flight.
What are your pre-flight routines? Do you have a pre-flight routine?
