In this post: Spectrum

I will be the first one to admit that I have an addiction to makeup brushes, i’m constantly looking for a new brush set to add to my collection and makeup kit, when these gorgeous Spectrum brushes* turned up at my door you can only imagine the excitement. Spectrum have, in my opinion, the most Instagramable and beautiful brushes I’ve seen and I’ve been lusting after some for a while now. Spectrum very kindly gifted me the 4 piece contouring set (£29.99)*, after staring at them for a good 20 minutes I put them to the test.

IMG_4505 editSpectrum are a synthetic, vegan friendly brush brand with so many different sets, styles and collections. The 4 piece contouring set* is from their standard pink collection.

This set contains two brushes (C04, C03) that are ideal for powder, contour and bronzing, under eye setting powder and full face setting. The other two brushes (B02, B01) are great for applying foundation and cream contour. The brush hairs are synthetic, which can be used for powder and cream products.

How I like to use each brush:

Brush B01 (Flat Top Buffing Brush foundation): I use this brush to apply my base, it gives an all over coverage with a seamless finish. The brush hairs are really soft and it’s not too dense.

Brush B02 (Domed Buffer -Cream contour brush): I’ve been using this brush to apply cream contour and bronzer, this brush works really well with Chanel Soleil tan de Chanel cream bronzer.

Brush C03 (Tulip Powder): With this brush I started using it for setting powder but I now use it to bronze the face. It has a tapered edge which is ideal for bronzing the cheekbones. The tapered edge applies the bronzer evenly. I also like to use this to contour if I don’t want to create any harsh lines, keeping the contour natural.

Brush C04 (Angled Powder contour): This brush is my favourite for applying contour to the cheek bones and temples. The slanted edge makes it easy to apply the contouring shade, like the other brushes the brush hairs are really soft which makes it easier to apply a seamless contour.

“The Flat Top Buffer is the perfect way to start, use it to get an even, all-over coverage with cream, liquid or powder foundation. Then work with the Domed Buffer to give an airbrushed finish by lightly buffing the products into the skin for true staying power. The Angled Powder can be used to create angles and add depth to cheekbones and the jaw line with a darker tone than your natural skin colour for a subtle contour. Finally add the finishing touches with the Tulip Powder, set your base with a translucent powder or add more definition to your hairline with the tapered tip. Perfect.”

I am really impressed by the quality of these brushes, I can tell that even after a few washes the brush hairs will be just as soft. I am really excited to start using these in my makeup kit and to add some colour into my makeup brush kit.

I am now lusting over the Marbelous collection, not to mention the glam clam too, all the sets look so dreamy.

Who’s also excited for the new Bombshell collection to launch later this month? *Raises Hand*

Have you tried anything from Spectrum yet?
