Winter Essentials

This year is going by so quickly, I can’t believe it’s nearly Christmas already. Winter isn’t my favourite season because I don’t like the cold or the dark nights, but I do love having cosy nights in with a nice smelling candle and a good face mask.

I have put together this post with a few of my Winter essentials, from makeup to fashion to a good christmas scented candle.

IMG_2648When it comes to the colder months I like to have a foundation that’s long lasting, medium-full coverage and a bold lip. Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation (£30) has been a favourite of mine for years now, I always reach for it during the winter months because it stays on all day and gives the coverage I want.

A new addition to my foundation wardrobe is Cover FX natural finish oil-free foundation* (£34), this is also a long lasting base but I find that it is a lot thicker than i’m used to, so I like to add in a beauty oil to make it thinner and to add a glow. Josie Maran light argon oil ($48) has been my favourite for this, I also like to put this into my evening moisturiser to add extra hydration.

My go-to eyeshadows for the Winter time are Cocoa bear and creme brulee from Makeup Geek (£4.95). –Which is now available on for us UK gals, I know where my first pay check will be spent.- I love warm toned shadows, especially during the cooler months and I am a huge fan of makeup geek shadows, they blend so seamlessly and they are highly pigmented.

As well as having a warm tone smokey eye, dark lips are a go-to. My favourites at the moment are Nars Audacious lipstick in Anna (£24)Nars Matte lip pencil in Cruella (£19) and Maybelline Colour drama pencil in Berry Much (£4.99). The one I reach for the most is Nars lipstick in Anna, it’s a gorgeous purple berry shade which goes with almost any makeup look.

Last Christmas I got this set of three nail polishes from & Other Stories, I think it’s super cute and the shades remind me of this time of year. Dovetail Lustre (Middle shade) is my favourite, I am going to be wearing this throughout the christmas season.

As well as my makeup essentials I have a few ‘lifestyle’ go-to’s. Blackberry and Bay cologne from Jo Malone (£85) is a classic for this time of year, this is one of my favourite scents, it makes me feel christmassy and warm. Sadly my bottle has gone off and doesn’t smell right this year *sad face*, I’m hoping Santa brings me a new bottle.

I do love a good cup of tea, especially during the winter nights. Yorkshire Tea (£1.49) is my favourite and you will never find me without a box of the stuff in my kitchen.

Scarf’s are essential when the weather drops cold, I got this one from Forever 21 (£9) this year and it is really soft and cosy. It’s a great shade that goes with pretty much any outfit and coat that I have.

Lastly, lighting a candle is one of my favourite things to do. Fireside Treats from Yankee Candle (£27.99) smells incredible, I have been lighting this constantly. It smells festive and perfect for this time of year. Another candle that I like to light is Amphora Aromatics Bergamot Essential Oil Candle* (£5.50) which I have reviewed here.
