I was inspired by Vivianna Does Makeup to do this post, last week she spoke about a variety of different foundations and described what each one was best for. I have tried and tested my fair share of foundations and they are my favourite thing to buy, beauty wise (Makeup collection coming soon). I have chosen to talk about a range of higher end foundations, however I do have a selection of drug store offerings for a different post.
Having a great base sets you up for the rest of your makeup, in my opinion. Whether your looking for a sheer coverage, medium to full, or even an added glow! I’ve got you covered, literally.
A sheer finish: Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua (£33) This used to be my go-to foundation for ages, it gives a sheer coverage but it also can be build able. I like to wear this foundation during the warmer months when I want something lighter on my face. Chanel Vitalumiere also gives a glow from within look and is gorgeous on any skin types.
A matte finish: Estee Lauder Double Wear (£29.50) On days when I want my makeup to last all day this is the foundation I will reach for. I have the shade cool bone and it is a perfect match to my skin tone. Double wear gives a medium coverage that can also be build able. This is my mums favourite foundation, she absolutely loves it and defiantly can’t be without it.
One for dry skins: YSL Touche Eclat (£31.50) One that I have been wearing a lot recently, as I have dry to normal skin I like my base to be dewy but to last all day. I love this foundation it is defiantly my go to at the moment. It has a light texture and I like to apply this with either my fingers or Louise Young LY34 Super foundation brush (£24).
Glow from within: Chanel Les Beiges All-In-One Healthy Glow Fluid (£34) This is my favourite for when I have a tan, I picked up the shade B30 last year at the airport on my way home from turkey and I had a great tan. This adds glow to all the right places of the face. It gives a sheer to medium coverage but when I have a tan all I want in added glow.
Medium to Full Coverage: Nars Sheer Glow (£31) I have reviewed this foundation here. I love this foundation for days when I need more coverage (bad skin days) it covers pretty much anything without looking caky or like you have a lot of foundation on. It also adds a lovely glow to the skin.
One for lazy days: Laura Mercier Oil free tinted moisturiser (£34) On days when I don’t really want to wear much makeup but I still want to look somewhat decent I reach straight for this base. Even though I have dry to normal skin the oil free version offers more coverage than the one with oil in it. This tinted moisturiser is the best one that I have tried in a long time. It adds coverage to areas you need it the most whilst also adding a glow to the skin.
Have you tried any of these foundations? Which one is your favourite?
